Day 1

We are sure you will fall in love with this region at first site! You will arrive in Capriva del Friuli, where the magnificent Castello di Spessa is located.

Rising on a gentle hill, and surrounded by a beautiful garden in Italian style, the Spessa Castle soars in the heart of the Collio Goriziano. The cellar is the oldest of the Collio wine region; Giacomo Casanova as well tasted the wine that here is produced. The visit throws you back in the centuries when the castle was inhabited by knights and mistress. Nowadays it is one of the most stunning holiday resorts of the region. Here you can taste Santarosa Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon Segrè and Conte di Spessa red wine.


Rosazzo Abbey, close to the resort. You should visit it in the evening when the smell of the ancient and modern roses, located on the “roses path” is stronger.

Just relax enjoy the breathtaking landscape, wandering around the cloister, the church and the ancient cellars that date back to the 13th century.


Day 2

Off to a UNESCO World Heritage Site! Let’s visit Cividale!

Cividale del Friuli, was founded in 53 BC by Julius Caesar and originally called Forum Iulii, from which the name Friuli is derived. Modern-day Cividale del Friuli has a number of unique sights, such as the Lombard Temple, one of the most extraordinary and mysterious works of Early Mediaeval architecture in Western Europe. The Ratchis Altar and Callisto Baptistery, which can be seen in the fine Cathedral Treasury Christian Museum, are excellent examples of Lombard art.

Afterwards we deserve a tasty break! So we are off to San Daniele del Friuli for a visit and prosciutto tasting directly from the producer.


A visit of Guarneriana Library, the oldest library of the region and one of the oldest public libraries in Italy.

Day 3

Today we  will be hosted by one of the most famous Italian wine families, Felluga. They have an enduring relationship with the wine which began over a century ago. Their estate, Relais Russiz Superiore, is located in Capriva del Friuli.

The estate owns 100 hectares of land, here are produced premium white wines famous all over the world. Wine making is for Felluga family much more a philosophy rather than a profession. Here we will taste a great wine which is also known as “Collio song towards the sky” and we will enjoy breathtaking views over Collio hilly landscape where on the east side you’ll see Slovenia and on the west side you can see the see.

Off to visit another family owned business; Josko Sirk vinegar manufactory. Here vinegar is produced using Ribolla Gialla grapes and not wine (as usual) and ages 2 years in oak barrels. Acetaia, the manufactory, is surrounded by wooden houses in the hearth of the wood, which are perfect for a green style holiday.
